Using my practice of linking the physical world to the digital world -- rarely seen in the beauty industry -- I created this User Experience/User Interface for a full-scale exhibition. Chanel possesses a broad array of aesthetics for experimentation: from graffiti'd branding to classic graphics, the venerable company left alot wide open for an exhibition.
Much of the interaction design is based from emerging technologies that have currently just landed. However, I felt there was enough precedence and testing to present a conceptual, marketable, and working design. I've also included examples where similar implementable technologies and prototypes are used currently.
The inspiration came from this beautiful video that Chanel, Inc. produced in 2014. "The Colors of Chanel" entails the inspirations behind Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld's designs and processes.
Demonstrated Technology: Attract Loop
This application shows how to achieve a green-screen effect (background removal) using Kinect and a full-screen video background.
Demonstrated Technology: Interactive Intro Wall
This application shows how pedestrians interact with a flip board motion.
Demonstrated Technology: Projection Mapped Mannequin
This application shows how a video can be projected onto a mannequin for a life-like visual of a simulated human.
Demonstrated Technology: White Room
This application shows how a digital dandelion can interact and respond to a human touch from a physical dandelion.
Demonstrated Technology: Touch Surface Writing
This application shows how any user can use a large LED display to write on a massive area — all in real time.
Demonstrated Technology: Beige Room
This application shows how a user’s face can be detected by a computer and then realized in a 3d image — all in real time.
Demonstrated Technology: Gold Room
This application shows how a users voice can make a frequency wave interactively.
